STV INVEST is continuing with the regeneration of the Kovosvit MAS site. GreMi KLIMA is set to arrive
We are part of the STV INVEST group of companies, which operates in both the Czech defence and civil sectors.
The former Kovosvit MAS site in Sezimovo Ústí is gradually being repurposed. Tropner s.r.o., part of the STV INVEST industrial group and owner of the entire site since the start of this year, has signed a lease agreement with GreMi KLIMA. The latter will utilise three production halls and part of the office space in the main administrative building. Following a period of decline, manufacturing and business activity are thus beginning to return to this extensive industrial site.
“We are delighted that we have managed, in a short space of time, to find a tenant with long-term development potential for a significant part of the site. GreMi KLIMA is a company with strong ties to the region, and its arrival is exactly the kind of use we envisaged when we took over the site. We want life, production and, above all, people to gradually return to Kovosvit. We are already employing several dozen former Kovosvit MAS staff and believe that their numbers will continue to grow,” says Martin Drda, CEO of STV INVEST.
The arrival of GreMi KLIMA marks the first significant step in the gradual revitalisation of the site, whose history dates back to the Baťa era. The site covers approximately 16 hectares, of which more than five hectares consist of production and storage halls and administrative facilities.
At the same time, Tropner is continuing to seek uses for other parts of the site. The aim is to gradually fill the vacant production, storage and administrative spaces and to transform the site back into a functioning industrial area that will benefit Sezimovo Ústí and the entire region.
“The acquisition of Kovosvit does not mark the end of our work, but rather the beginning. We do not want to be passive owners of this extensive site; we want to gradually fill it with meaningful activity. The signing of the lease agreement with GreMi KLIMA is the first result of these efforts, and we believe that others will follow,” says Martin Drda.
However, the Kovosvit site is not merely a collection of halls and plots of land. Until recently, machine tools bearing the name Sezimovo Ústí were manufactured here and carried the name across the globe; they are still in operation today in factories both at home and abroad. Following the takeover of the site, work-in-progress, semi-finished products, spare parts and technical documentation remained from the previous operation – assets that cannot be recreated and which, according to the new owner, deserve to be carried forward.
STV INVEST is an industrial group with its own manufacturing focus and does not approach machine tools as a manufacturer; therefore, it makes even more sense to find a strong partner for this part of Kovosvit’s legacy. The group is open to discussions with engineering firms, manufacturers, and investors who can build on production, the Kovosvit brand, and the readiness to provide the site’s facilities, available documentation, and as-yet-unused production inputs.
“Kovosvit wasn’t just a factory; it was a brand that enjoyed a global reputation – documentation, work-in-progress and people who understand the business remain here. We are a group with a different manufacturing focus, but that does not mean this legacy should end up in the archives. If a partner is found with the ambition to continue the production of machine tools, we are prepared to discuss the matter very openly with them and offer them our full support,” adds Martin Drda.
Both Tropner and GreMi KLIMA are also counting on long-term cooperation. The new tenant thus becomes one of the first major partners to contribute to the gradual transformation of the site and its return to the region’s active industrial centres.
The Kovosvit site is thus beginning a new chapter, this time with new companies, new jobs and the ambition to breathe new life into this significant industrial site.
