STV GROUP welcomes the expansion of Patria's cooperation with Czech state-owned enterprises

06/05/2026 – The signing of the memorandums marks another step toward involving the Czech defence industry in the project to develop a new 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle for the Czech Army.

STV GROUP welcomes the signing of memorandums of cooperation between Patria and state-owned enterprises of the Ministry of Defence, specifically the Military Technical Institute (VTÚ), VOP CZ, and the Military Research Institute (VVÚ). The signing of memorandums of cooperation with these strategic partners represents another step toward the Czech defence industry’s involvement in the future project for a new 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle for the Czech Army.

STV GROUP has long collaborated with Patria on key projects for the Czech defence industry, including the Patria 6x6, Patria AMV XP 8x8 CZ platforms, and the NEMO 120 towed mortar system. The expansion of the network of Czech partners underscores the project's strategic importance and the ambition to build a strong industrial, service, and technological base for modern armoured vehicles in the Czech Republic.

The Finnish company Patria is offering the Czech Republic the latest version of its battle-proven AMV (Armoured Modular Vehicle) platform, specifically the Patria AMV XP 8x8 CZ. AMV vehicles are in service with armed forces around the world and have extensive operational experience, offering full interoperability with our allies. The modifications offered for the AMV XP CZ platform meet all the requirements of the Czech Army in terms of capabilities and also provide for a high degree of localisation, including maintenance and lifecycle support directly in the Czech Republic, all within a very fast delivery schedule.

Cooperation with Patria is highly strategic for STV GROUP in the long term. We appreciate that Patria is systematically expanding the involvement of the Czech defence industry and state-owned enterprises in the upcoming project to replace 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicles with a platform ready for the 21st-century battlefield. We anticipate that dozens of Czech companies will be involved in the project. The Czech Republic can thus gain not only modern, battle-tested armoured vehicles, but also significant, internationally competitive industrial capabilities with high added value, the transfer of production and advanced technologies, and a high degree of self-sufficiency in service, maintenance, and further vehicle development. We consider the planned industrial cooperation program to be unprecedented in the context of other contracts,” said Pavel Beran, Director of Special Projects at STV GROUP.

“Patria has decades of proven experience in the development of armoured vehicles, and technology transfer is a natural part of our business model. The Patria AMV XP 8x8 is the vehicle we have been developing the longest—it is a state-of-the-art, modular, and robust wheeled armoured vehicle that provides excellent firepower, protection, and mobility. We are pleased with the interest shown by new countries in the AMV XP family of vehicles and always look forward to building long-term partnerships,” said Patria President and CEO Panu Routila.

The signed memoranda of cooperation with key state-owned enterprises confirm our commitment to close collaboration with the Czech defence industry and to maximising its involvement. We view Czech companies as strong partners, including within the global supply chain. By combining our experience with technology transfer and the capabilities of Czech private and state-owned enterprises, we can deliver an effective and sustainable solution that will strengthen supply security and meet the requirements of the Czech Army,” said Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility Division.

STV GROUP has long supported the maximum involvement of the Czech defence industry in all strategic projects of the Czech Army and views all state-owned enterprises of the Ministry of Defence as key and natural partners for the success of the Czech Army’s modernisation. In the event of replacing the generation-old Pandur vehicles with the new Patria AMV XP 8x8 CZ platform, Czech companies could gain a significant share in the production, integration, maintenance, and lifecycle of the vehicles, including involvement in Patria’s global supply chain.

The Patria AMV XP 8x8 CZ platform is a modern modular armoured vehicle offering a high level of protection, mobility, and firepower, and is in service with the armed forces of numerous countries worldwide. The offer for the Czech Republic also emphasises high-value-added local production, technology transfer, and supply security within a broad consortium of domestic industry companies.
