Josef Flek visited the STV GROUP ammunition production facility

We welcomed Josef Flek, Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, to our Polička production facility. The visit aimed to showcase the manufacturing capabilities of one of the key companies in the Czech defence industry and to discuss further development of domestic production capacity and its importance to the Czech Republic’s defence capabilities.

STV GROUP’s management presented the Chairman of the Defence Committee with the company’s current production portfolio and its extensive investments in further developing its manufacturing and technological capabilities. In recent years, STV GROUP has significantly expanded both its production volume and its supply-chain integration, from components to the final product. In addition to artillery, tank, and mortar ammunition, the group also produces small-calibre ammunition (through its sister company, STV Technology), repairs and modernises heavy military equipment, and engages in engineering manufacturing, industrial automation, and tactical gear production.

A key topic of discussion was the Czech Republic’s ability to secure its own production capacity in critical areas and reduce its dependence on foreign supply chains. Company representatives also presented investment projects aimed at further increasing capacity, modernising technology, and developing capabilities needed not only to meet the needs of the Czech Army but also those of allied nations.

“We greatly appreciate that Chairman Flek came directly to Polička and was able to see what STV GROUP and the Czech defence industry are truly capable of today. In recent years, we have reinvested our profits in new technologies, production capacity, and our people. Building these capabilities is a long-term process; we cannot create them overnight when a crisis arises. That is why we consider it essential for the state and the domestic defence industry to engage in a long-term and open dialogue regarding the needs of the military, planned acquisitions, and the strategic production capacities that the Czech Republic must maintain on its territory,” said Tomáš Rubáček, Chairman of the Board of Directors of STV GROUP.

The visit also included a tour of the production facilities, where Josef Flek gained hands-on experience with the technological processes involved in producing and loading large-calibre ammunition, as well as with the investments through which STV GROUP is further expanding and modernising its production capacities. The visit also included a presentation of the new platform for Czech paratroopers—the American Flyer 72HD light assault vehicle. STV GROUP serves as the official Czech industrial partner and representative of Flyer Defense. The discussion also addressed lessons learned from the current security situation, which has once again demonstrated the strategic importance of sufficient ammunition stocks, a robust domestic manufacturing base, and the industry’s ability to rapidly increase production when necessary.

“It is precisely these in-person visits to manufacturing companies, such as STV GROUP, that allow me to gain a much more accurate picture of what the Czech industry is capable of offering for our security and where it makes sense to build strategic self-sufficiency.” I believe it is important to understand how production actually takes place, at what scale, and how successfully investments are being made. The current security situation clearly shows that a strong domestic defence industry is not merely an economic issue, but above all a matter of national security. However, the economic dimension is also significant. For example, thanks to its export successes, STV GROUP pays more in taxes than the Ministry of Defence spends purchasing equipment from it. It can therefore be said that industrial and export successes directly finance our security,” stated Josef Flek, Chairman of the Defence Committee.

According to STV GROUP, the key to further expanding capacity lies primarily in the predictability of future demand, long-term state planning, and the effective use of the opportunities current legislation provides to Czech manufacturers.
