Self-propelled gun 203mm 2S7 PION

Self propelled howitzer 2S7 PION ( NATO code M-1975 ) was in the past in service of former Czechoslovak army ( artillery squad in Žamberk in years 1984 – 1993 ). It is still in service in armies of some russian speaking countires. Chassis basis is modified T-80 with engine and transmission from T-72. Armoured cabin for driver and commander has two round lids, periscopes and two front windows made of bulletproof glass. Behind the cabin is engine space for two engines – V12 diesel engine for vehicle drive and petrol four-cylinder for manipulation with gun. Behind the engine part is space for four men for main gun manipulation. Shooting support for fire consists of bulldozer blade and foldable tensioning wheels. There is not much detailed information about this weapon available. Its service in armies was secret due to possibility of fire atomic ammunition. There were about 1000 pcs produced, of which main part was already dismantled and scraped. We are offering 2 pieces out of eight which were in service in years 1985 – 2006 in Polish army.
