MT-LB

MT-LB was developed on the base of unarmored amphibian vehicle MT-L to replace tracked tractor AT-P. Vehicle has a multi-purpose conception and can be used as troops transporter or artillery tractor ( D-30 howitzer, T-12 AT cannon ). Drivers and commanders post is in front of the hull. Commander has control of small turret with 7,62 PKT machine gun on the right side of hull. For troops are dipteral door in the rear. Vehicle is amphibious, driven in water by tracks. Engine JaMZ 238 with output of 179 kW can move the MT-LB up to 60 km/h on-road and 30 km/h off-road. Due to low weight and wide tracks it has an excellent off-road driveability. MT-LB is a base for multiple modifications – commanders vehicle, artillery fire control vehicle ( with 2S1 Gvozdika, 2S3 Akacija, 2S4 Tulpan, 2S5 Hyacint and 2S7 Pion units ), ambulance, engineering vehicle, service vehicle, anti-aircraft system, self-propelled howitzer, self-propelled mortar, radiation vehicle, reconnaissance and chemical weapons vehicle and others.
